Texarkana MPO Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan
Alliance just developed a Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan that provides clear priorities, tools, and programs for improving the environment for bicycle and pedestrian users. Alliance facilitated a series of visioning workshops for stakeholders in the planning process. Alliance used a methodology that depicts how bicyclists and pedestrians and other users function within the system, how the system is maintained, and how the system varies depending on the type of street, land use, and activities the bike and pedestrian facilities are intended to serve. The methodology also contains supporting elements that provide best practice guidelines on specific design and operational strategies as well as model ordinances to facilitate the implementation of a bicycle and pedestrian system that is safe, accessible, convenient, and attractive to users, while building community consensus on and support of the resulting plan.
